Projects give you a dedicated space to plan and execute on a focused area of work, with a living Spec, a Project-scoped chat, and a real-time view of triaged tasks handed off to your team of agents.
Create a Project
Start a new Project a few ways:
- From the Projects page: open Projects in the left navigation and create a new Project directly from there.
- From an existing chat: use the three-dot menu next to the chat name to turn any chat into a Project.
- Directly in chat: ask Korey to create a Project or spec an idea for you in any chat. Try, “Start a Project and spec out [idea]” and Korey will suggest creating a Project.
The Project view
Every Project opens into a three-panel view:
- Spec: a freeform, editable document that serves as your source of truth. Korey references the Spec when executing work.
- Chat: a Project-scoped chat with full context of your Spec and Execute column. Use it to refine the plan, give direction, or ask Korey questions about the work.
- Execute column: Stories and Sub-tasks grouped by state. Progress updates live as agents complete work.
Import existing work to a Project
When creating a Project, you can have Korey import your existing work as a starting point, or build the Spec from scratch. The Spec is fully editable at any time to reflect new direction or scope changes.
- From Project Creation: create a Project from an existing Epic to bring its Stories or Issues into the Project.
- Through chat: ask Korey in the Project chat to create the Spec and import the Stories or Issues from an existing Epic.
- From the Execute column: use the plus button to add individual Stories or Issues to the Project.
Assign work to an agent
Stories and Sub-tasks in the Execute column can be assigned to an agent:
- In the Execute column: assign directly from the task card.
- Through chat: tell Korey which tasks to pick up in the Project chat.
Add Chats to a Project
Chats can live inside a Project, so related conversations stay together:
- Start a new chat in a Project: anyone can start a chat in an existing Project, even if they don’t own the Project.
- Move an existing chat into a Project: right-click the chat in the left-hand navigation, or use the three-dot menu next to the chat name in the chat view, to move it into a Project.
Share a Project
Projects are visible to any user in your Korey organization — share the Project permalink to your teammates so they can view the Spec, related chats, and execution tasks. Currently, only the Project owner can make changes directly in the Spec editor and explicitly assign work via the Execute column interface.
Connect a Slack channel to a Project
Linked Slack channels bring your Project’s context to where your team is already collaborating. Anyone can join the channel, and teammates with a Korey account can ask Korey about the status of the linked Project. Any chat with Korey started in that channel appears in the Project view and contributes to the Project’s context.
Before you connect a channel, make sure your Slack workspace is authenticated with Korey. Follow the steps in the app, or see the Slack connector setup guide. Projects can connect to public Slack channels.
- Create a channel with a new Project: when creating a Project, turn on Create a project channel in Slack to automatically create a new Slack channel and connect it to the Project.
- Link an existing channel: click Context in the top-right corner of the Project view and choose the public Slack channel you want to link.
- Remove a linked channel: click Context in the top-right corner of the Project view, then click Remove Slack channel next to the channel and confirm.
